Hello everyone! I am Flora, a research scholar from dept. of Chemistry, IIT Kharagpur. I am currently working under the supervision of Dr. Suman Kalyan Samanta .I am  interested in furnishing novel organic polymer networks with multifaceted applications. We'll also try to  explore their structure property relationship and interesting facts associated with.

Marble Surface

My research interest revolves around macromolecular chemistry, precisely synthesizing organic polymer networks(OPN) showing wide spectrum of activity in the areas of foremost importance (i.e. environmental clean-up, energy storage and conversion, catalytic Carbon-dioxide fixation) to the benefit of mankind. OPNs are basically a smart multifunctional engine having 2D/3D crosslinked porous architecture where building units are linked via covalent bond. Besides, their porosity can be further tuned  via target oriented synthetic strategy and diversified methodology involving interesting C-C and C-O coupling, condensation reactions as well as ion-exchange(in case of ionic OPN) host-guest chemistry. Superior thermochemical stability and low skeletal density acts as added feather to their fascinating properties. Poor solubility in common organic solvent and recyclability also makes them suitable heterogeneous catalyst after loading metal NPs. Improved charge carrier migration through porous channel and extended conjugation within POP  can even open up a new window through energy device applications(Li ion battery, supercapacitor etc.)
