About

The inherent beauty of organic chemistry lies within the art of synthesis and correlating this with experimental findings suitably furnishing discoveries to the benefit of mankind. The special flair towards chemistry grown inside me during 10+2 school days. The experimental observation and investigating the practical reason behind that always used to stimulate my young mind to go deeper. Simple looking yet interesting chemical reactions enthralled me to play with molecular properties more and more. Starting from acid-base titration and detection of functional group experiments I gradually moved to basic synthetic organic reactions during UG level. I am thankful to our organic chemistry tutors for conducting such enthusiastic lab sessions that helped us in long run. During my graduation days, we used to work rigorously on the experimental setup, extracting the desired product, crystallization techniques, precipitation techniques and finally checking the m.p. of the compound to confirm its generation. This cycle always motivated my intellect that how beautifully the molecular system in presence of any external promoter or catalyst rearranges itself to attain more stability and basically how does a structure gets converted to a completely different one having different physicochemical properties. In 2017, after completing B.Sc from the University of Calcutta, I consider myself to be lucky enough to join IIT Kharagpur under the Joint M.Sc Ph.D. program after clearing the JAM 2017. During the first year, I got selected for the PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for basic science and this indeed helped me a lot in attending workshops and conferences during my stay. There I came in contact with eminent personalities captivating me more towards designing experiments independently and also enriched me with practical technical skills to handle NMR, IR, PXRD apparatus useful in future research. During my summer internship under the guidance of  Prof. Amit Basak, I was involved in studying the regioselectivity in addition of a nucleophile to an aryne diradical, a DNA cleaving intermediate. and there the journey of chemical reactions from setting up to chromatographic techniques for separation till purification of pdt instigated my creative individual to elucidate the structure-property relationship of organic molecules. During my dissertation under Prof.A.Nag, I got immense exposure there to explore the diversity-oriented synthesis of biologically important  N-Heterocyclic scaffolds and worked diligently on heterogeneous catalysis and broadly deriving the fruits of green chemistry. I was blessed to communicate three papers from this lab.
